The Boston Common Frog Pond sits at the heart of Boston Common. Test your ice skating skills on America’s oldest public park’s ice skating rink. Glide alongside local residents and visitors as you train for Olympic gold or just enjoy a romantic evening out with your special someone. Or just stop by to enjoy the scenery, complimentary Wi-Fi, and delicious hot cocoa from the cafe!

Santa Speedo Run on Newbury Street


In case you need an extra incentive to do your holiday shopping in Back Bay on Saturday, December 6, the annual Santa Speedo Run may be just what you're looking for as 700 scantily-clad Santas complete a 1-mile jog to raise money for the Play Ball Foundation, which brings sports and team-building skills to local Boston middle-schoolers. 

Runners (must be 21+) register at Lir (903 Boylston) at 10am for check-in and libations, kick off at 1pm, and make their way down Boylston to Berkeley and then back up Newbury Street and back to Lir.  It's a fun event.  Bring your camera!

Even if you're personally not a strong skater, Boston's NCAA men's hockey teams give you plenty of chances to have a blast at the ice rink. Celebrate New Year's Eve at First Night

First Night Boston 2015, the city's annual New Year’s Eve festival celebration, will take place December 31, 2014, throughout downtown Boston. The country's oldest and largest New Year's arts festival, First Night Boston 2015 is a day-long festival of art, music, dance, sculpture and fireworks.

Each year from 1:00 p.m. to midnight on December 31, nearly one million people gather in downtown Boston for a celebration that showcases over 1,000 artists in 200 performances and events at over two dozen indoor and outdoor venues. First Night Boston features an afternoon Family Festival at the Hynes Convention Center, a Grand Procession parade that sweeps down Boylston Street, colossal ice sculptures that dot the city’s landscape, and a dazzling fireworks display to welcome the New Year. For nearly 40 years, First Night Boston has become a cherished Boston tradition and a signature event of the city.  All First Night outdoor events are free, and admission to indoor events requires the purchase of a First Night button, which is $10.
